London Brewing Co. - An Interview

With more and more interesting pubs popping up, I was delighted to find out that one was being opened just up the road from me. Dan Fox of London Brewing Co. recently set up in the old Bohemia, which sadly for everyone in North Finchley closed last year. Dan also owns a very nice brewpub in Highgate called The Bull. With lots of interesting projects in the works I decided that I would go and find out what’s happening, and what the plans were for its future.

The Return of the Bumbag

Bum bags, that awkward accessory that millennials have far too many bad memories of. The embarrassment level would sky rocket as your mum would delve deep into the pouch strapped at her waist and produce some vital item.

Well the bags have been back for a while now, a trending item in 2017. They’ve been adopted by the likes of Gucci and Moschino. And are being worn by a pretty broad mix of celebrities.

A Considered Beer-d

Walking through London, especially as the hordes are released from their daily lockups, I cannot help but notice the inordinate number of young men sporting facial foliage.

There are small ones, beards no more than a hint of stubble, and there are big full bodied beards that could, if entering a fight, win it themselves without the help of the face behind them. It is as though the revolution that the Australian band The Beards dream of has come.

The Book of Mormon is as racist as Conrad’s Heart of Darkness

I took my girlfriend to see the Book of Mormon in London’s West End. All the reviews I had come across delighted in it, ‘hilarious,’ ‘side-splitting’, ‘incredibly funny’. So I was quite excited and proud to have managed to get hold of a couple of good seats for an apparently reasonable price. I expected this to be a fantastic experience.

To Snack or not to Snack

When it comes to food it is very hard to know what to eat, what is healthy and what is good for you. It seems that every week there is a new health trend.

From chia seeds and detoxes of kale juice to all meat diets or no meat diets. Some people say eat more, some people say eat less. Are carbohydrates really bad for you?

One of these confusing trends is the idea of ‘grazing’. Eating small amounts often.

There have been numerous articles released suggesting that it is better for you to have up to six meals a day. However, there is little actual research and science behind this that we could find.

So, where did this little and often approach come from? And is it correct?

The IKEA bag Hits Luxury Fashion

The IKEA bag Hits Luxury Fashion

IKEA's signature blue bag is a statement of practicality: nigh on indestructible, lightweight, easily cleaned and capacious enough to fit most of your house's furniture in... this practicality does somewhat fall short of what one desires from a bag though. It leaves your back aching, your fingers or shoulder raw from the rough strap, and frankly we think people look a ltttle silly as they stagger greatfully out of the waren that is an IKEA wharehouse dragging their new kitchen sink behind them, like some kind of dead body wrapped in tarpaulin...

Get Fit and Fresh the Summer

Get Fit and Fresh the Summer

Summer is a great time to start thinking about your body. The sun is out, it's warm (sometimes), life is good.

I don't like doing cardio, and going for a long run has its own problems. To burn any substantial amount of calories, you have to run for a long time. It is time consuming, boring, and pretty terrible for your knees, hips, even your shins.

So I advocate Calisthenics...
